According to Shiba Inu’s official website, SHIB is the "DOGECOIN KILLER" and can be traded on the SHIBA INU-created DEX, ShibaSwap. Behind Shiba Inu is a peculiar character with the alias "Ryoshi" who says that, being unworthy of attention, he’d like to remain perpetually anonymous. Rumor has it that Vitalik Buterin might be responsible for SHIB, but he has consistently denied it.
Shiba Inu is yet another spin on beloved canine-themed digital currencies, among which are JINDO INU (JIND), Alaska Inu (LAS), Alaskan Malamute Token (LASM), and, of course, Dogecoin (DOGE) and Baby Dogecoin (BabyDoge). Unsurprisingly, these dog tokens attract those who missed out on DOGE’s pump from 0.0002 to 0.75 USD. Shiba’s popularity also spawned a slew of imitators, such as BitShiba, Shiba Fantom, Shibbalana, King Shiba, SpookyShiba, and numerous others. There are likely more than a hundred duplicate Shiba Inus, and the numbers are steadily increasing.
Coinbase, the most popular crypto exchange in the United States, added support for Shiba Inu on September 17, 2021. As a result, SHIB’s value increased by more than 40 percent over the course of the next two days.
Following that, Shiba Inu gained the attention of other exchanges like Bitso, Giottus, Bitstamp, Korbit, and finally, Binance.

As mentioned, Shiba Inu was created by an anonymous maker who calls himself "Ryoshi." Like with bitcoin, very little is known about Shiba’s mysterious creator. In his blog, Ryoshi Research, he describes himself as "just some guy of no consequence tapping at a keyboard."
Shiba Inu’s Woofpaper claims that the main reason for creating the token was, well, a love for dogs. Considering that Ryoshi still holds zero SHIB, he doesn’t love dogs nearly enough. However, Ryoshi claims that because he doesn’t own anything, he remains "pure and unbiased," finding happiness in Shiba "in other ways."
People have wondered if Vitalik Buterin had anything to do with setting up Shiba Inu's liquidity on Uniswap. According to Ryoshi, he received 10 ETH from a "fren" he met at Devcon in Osaka in order to establish the liquidity pair on Uniswap.
Although Ryoshi claims that it’s his job to protect the company and offer ideas, he rarely does so. The most recent post was in May of 2021.
Dogecoin is inspired by bitcoin's design and is built on the same proof-of-work (PoW) algorithm. On the contrary, Shiba Inu is Ethereum-compatible, with staking supported by its ShibaSwap DEX.
It has been proven that proof-of-stake (PoS) systems like Shiba Inu require only about 1% of the energy used by proof-of-work (PoW) algorithms to run. As a result, Shiba Inu is more eco-friendly than Dogecoin.
The incorporation of NFTs into Shiba Ina's Doggy DAO allows for increased utility and revenue generation. In addition to its original purpose, Shiba Inu now facilitates decentralized finance and acts as a platform for the world's "plebs" or "financially excluded" to have their voices heard.
