How to create and set up WhiteBIT API key
In this article, we will show you how to create, configure, and connect your WhiteBIT API key to the Bitsgap platform.
Bitsgap is a trading platform that allows you to work with numerous cryptocurrency exchanges from a unified interface with access to additional tools that are not available on the exchange.
All trading operations are created and processed by using an exchange API key which is unique for every user. An API key is a safe and reliable way to use a platform because it does not give access to your personal data and prevents any funds management (withdrawals & deposits).
1. Log in to WhiteBIT
Log in to your WhiteBIT account or create a new one.
2. Go to the API page
From your account settings (top-right corner), navigate to the API page.
3. Create an API key
In the API keys section, click [Generate API key].
4. Verify the API generation
To create an API key, 2FA should be enabled for your WhiteBIT account (can be activated in the Security section of Settings). So, to proceed with creating your API key, enter the 2FA code from your authenticator app.
5. Copy your API key and Secret key
Before proceeding with further changes, save the API info somewhere safe.
6. Name your API key and match the API restrictions
Give your API key any name, so you can easily understand that this key is connected to your Bitsgap account.
Then edit your permissions in the endpoint access as in the example below. These restrictions will allow us to read your history and current balance and execute trades on your exchange account.
Here is the list of required permissions:
- Deposit off
- Withdrawal off
- Balance transfer off
- Wallet balance and history on
- Codes off
- Trade balance and order history on
- Order management on
When you are ready, please click [Confirm] and enter the 2FA code from your authenticator app once again.
7. Activate your API key
Once the API key is created, make sure to click the toggle button next to your API key name. This way, you can activate your API key and add it to Bitsgap successfully!
8. Go to Bitsgap > My Exchanges
Log in to your Bitsgap account and go to the My Exchanges page, where you can find an option to connect your WhiteBIT account. Click [Add new exchange].
9. Select WhiteBIT exchange and enter your API info
From the pop-up window, you need to select WhiteBIT. This will open a window where you can add your API key and Secret key, then click [Connect].
10. Connection check
If everything is done correctly, you will see WhiteBIT added to the list of your connected exchanges with the Connected status and the trading balance available on your account.
