How to Create and Set Up WhiteBIT API key
This guide will show you how to create, configure, and connect your WhiteBIT API key to the Bitsgap platform. By using an API key, you can securely trade on the Bitsgap platform without sharing personal data or enabling fund management like withdrawals or deposits.
Steps to Create and Set Up the WhiteBIT API Key
1. Log in to WhiteBIT
Log in to your existing WhiteBIT account or create a new one if necessary.
2. Go to the API Page
From the top-right corner of your account, navigate to Settings and select the API section.
3. Create an API Key
In the API keys section, click the Generate API Key button.
4. Verify API Generation
- Before generating the API key, ensure that 2FA (Two-Factor Authentication) is enabled for your WhiteBIT account (this can be done in the Security section of your settings).
- Enter the 2FA code from your authenticator app to proceed with the API creation.
5. Copy Your API Key and Secret Key
After the API key is generated, copy the API key and Secret key. Save them in a secure place, as you will need them later.
6. Name Your API Key and Set Permissions
- Give your API key a recognizable name so you can easily identify it as connected to your Bitsgap account.
- Set the following permissions for the API key:
- Deposit: Off
- Withdrawal: Off
- Balance Transfer: Off
- Wallet Balance and History: On
- Codes: Off
- Trade Balance and Order History: On
- Order Management: On
Once configured, click Confirm, and enter the 2FA code from your authenticator app again.
7. Activate Your API Key
Toggle the button next to your API key name to activate it.
8. Go to Bitsgap > My Exchanges
- Log in to your Bitsgap account and navigate to the My Exchanges page.
- Click the [Add new exchange] button.
9. Select WhiteBIT and Enter API Information
- From the list of exchanges, select WhiteBIT.
- A window will appear asking you to enter your API key and Secret key. Paste the information you copied earlier and click Connect.
10. Connection Check
- Once the connection is successful, you will see WhiteBIT listed among your connected exchanges, with the status marked as Connected.
- Your trading balance will also be visible.
Notes
- 2FA Requirement: Enabling Two-Factor Authentication is mandatory for creating and using the WhiteBIT API key.
- API Permissions: Be sure to carefully select the permissions that allow Bitsgap to read your balance and history, manage orders, and execute trades while disabling access to deposits or withdrawals for security.
