How to Create and Set Up Poloniex API key

This guide explains how to create and connect your Poloniex API key to the Bitsgap platform. An API key is essential for secure and efficient trading, allowing you to operate on the Bitsgap platform without sharing your personal data or enabling fund management (deposits and withdrawals).

Steps to Create and Set Up the Poloniex API Key

1. Log in to Poloniex

Access your Poloniex account or create a new one if needed.

2. Go to the API Management Page

From the top bar in your Poloniex account, click on your profile icon and navigate to the API keys page.

3. Go to Bitsgap > My Exchanges Page

Log in to your Bitsgap account and go to the My Exchanges page. Click the [Add new exchange] button to continue.

4. Select Poloniex and Copy Bitsgap IP Addresses

• From the list of exchanges, choose Poloniex.
• Click the Copy icon to save the list of trusted IPs. Keep this information secure, as you’ll need it to configure your API permissions later.

5. Create an API Key in Poloniex

Return to Poloniex and click on the Create API button to generate a new API key.

6. Label the API Key and Configure Permissions

• Give your API key a label that helps you identify it as connected to Bitsgap.
• Set the following permissions:
  • Spot and margin trading: On
  • Spot and Margin Trading Pair Whitelist: No restrictions
  • IP Access Restrictions: Enable and restrict access to the trusted IPs you copied earlier.
• Click Confirm to save your IP addresses and then hit Save to complete this step.
• Note: Ensure all other permissions are disabled for security purposes.

7. Pass the Security Verification

Poloniex will send you a verification email. Enter the verification code from the email and click [Submit].

8. Copy Your API Key and Secret Key

After creating the API key, copy both your API key and Secret key. Store them securely, as you will need them for the next steps.

9. Go Back to Bitsgap > My Exchanges

• In the My Exchanges page on Bitsgap, select Poloniex from the list.
• Paste your API key and Secret key in the respective fields.
• Click [Connect].

10. Connection Check

• If the connection is successful, you will see Poloniex added to your list of connected exchanges in Bitsgap.
• Your trading balance will be visible, and the status will show as Connected.
