How to create and set up Bitget API key
In this article, we will show you how to create, configure, and connect your Bitget API key to the Bitsgap platform.
Bitsgap is a trading platform that allows you to work with numerous cryptocurrency exchanges from a unified interface with access to additional tools unavailable on the exchange.
All trading operations are created and processed by using an exchange API key which is unique for every user. An API key is a safe and reliable way to use a platform because it does not give access to your personal data and prevents any funds management (withdrawals & deposits).
1. Log in to Bitget
Log in to your Bitget account or create a new one.
2. Enable 2FA or SMS verification (only for new accounts)
From your account settings (top-right corner), navigate to the "Security settings" tab and enable 2FA or phone number verification.
Attention
Without additional security verification, the Bitget exchange will not allow you to proceed with creating API keys.
3. Go to the API Management page
From your account profile, navigate to the "API Keys " page.
4. Create an API key
Click the [Create API key] button to create a new API key.
5. Select API key type
Select “System-generated API key” and proceed creating your key by clicking on the arrow.
6. Match API permissions
Give your API key any name, so you can easily understand that this key is connected to your Bitsgap account.
Attention
Please note that you will need to create an API Passphrase at this stage. This password is individual for each API key. Save it somewhere safe because we will need it a little bit later.
Edit your permissions as in the example above. These permissions will allow us to read your history and current balance and execute trades on your exchange account.
Here is the list of required permissions:
- Read-write on (active by default);
- Permission type - Name.
- When ready, hit [Next].
Note
If you are trading futures, please make sure that the Orders and Futures-Holdings permissions are on, as shown below.
7. Pass security verification
Enter your Email Verification code and 2FA code, then press [Verify].
8. Copy your API key and Secret key
Your Bitget trading key is successfully created and ready to be connected to our platform! Please, copy your API key and Secret key somewhere safe before you add them to Bitsgap.
9. Go to the Bitsgap > My Exchanges page
Log in to your Bitsgap account, go to the My Exchanges page, and click the [Add new exchange] button to continue.
