Two-factor authentication (2FA) is an essential feature that adds an extra layer of security to your Bitsgap account. Follow this guide to enable, disable, or troubleshoot 2FA.

### Enabling 2FA

1. **Access the Security Settings**:  
   Go to the **Settings** page and navigate to the **Security** tab.
2. **Activate the Authenticator**:  
   Toggle on the **Authenticator** option.
3. **Install a 2FA App**:  
   Download a 2FA app like **Google Authenticator** or **Authy** on your mobile device.
4. **Scan the QR Code**:  
   Open your 2FA app and scan the QR code displayed on Bitsgap.
   
   If scanning fails, use the manual setup key provided below the QR code.
5. **Enter the Generated Code**:  
   Input the code displayed in your 2FA app and click **Activate 2FA**.

🎉 **Congratulations!** 2FA is now enabled for your account.

### Disabling 2FA

1. Go to the **Security** tab and toggle off the **Authenticator** option.
2. Input the current 2FA code from your app.
3. Click **Turn Off 2FA** to disable it.

💡 **Lost Access to Your 2FA App?**  
If you no longer have access to your authenticator app, contact Bitsgap support at [**support@bitsgap.com**]() or via live chat. Provide your account details, and the support team will assist after verification.

### Troubleshooting 2FA Issues

If your 2FA codes are not working, it may be due to time desynchronization. To fix this:

1. Open the **Google Authenticator** app.
2. Tap **Settings** → **Time Correction for Codes** → **Sync Now**.
3. Wait for the app to confirm synchronization.

This resolves most 2FA issues.

### How to Create a Passkey

#### On the Web Platform

1. **Navigate to Account Settings:**  
   From the profile menu (top-right corner), go to **Settings**.
2. **Access Security Settings:**  
   Open the **Security** tab and enable the **Passkey** toggle.
3. **Add a New Passkey:**  
   Under "Your active keys," click **\[Add new key]**.
4. **Choose Authentication Method:**  
   In the pop-up, select your preferred authenticator (smartphone, password manager, etc.) and follow the prompts.
5. **Finalize Setup:**  
   Name your security key and click **\[Add]** to complete the process.

If you want to reset your password and restore access to your account, then, in this article, you will learn how to do it step-by-step.

### How to Reset a Password

#### Step 1. Reset your password

The first step is to reset your password by clicking the **Forgot password?** link.

#### Step 2. Enter your email

This link will redirect to the Reset Password page. Enter your email address and request a recovery link. The instruction will be sent to your email address **within 5 minutes**. If you do not see the password reset email in your inbox, please check Spam, Junk, and Promotions folders.

**Attention**  
If you haven't received any email, please check your inbox domain's settings. They may have a strict policy in terms of incoming messages. Add [**support@bitsgap.com**](mailto:support@bitsgap.com) and [**noreply@bitsgap.com**](mailto:noreply@bitsgap.com) to your contact list and request a password reset again.

#### Step 3. Open the password reset link

Find the password reset email in your inbox, click the **\[Reset Password]** button to confirm, and continue.

#### Step 4. Enter your new password

Now enter a new password. Please make sure that your password matches all the following criteria:

1. **Be at least 8 characters;**
2. **Contain a lowercase letter;**
3. **Contain a capital letter;**
4. **Contain a number.**

When you are ready, click the \[**Change]** button.

#### Step 5. Log in to your Bitsgap account

After that, you will be redirected to the Login page. Enter your email address and the new password. Once done, you will be able to access your Bitsgap account.

The "Wrong Authorization Device" error is a security feature to protect your Bitsgap account. This error typically occurs when logging in from a new device or browser.

### Follow These Steps

**1. Login Attempt and Email Confirmation**

- Go to the [Bitsgap login page](https://bitsgap.com/sign-in) and log in with your credentials.
- A login confirmation email will be sent to your registered email address.

**2. Open the Confirmation Email**

- On the **same device and browser** where you initiated the login attempt, open your inbox.
- Look for the latest Bitsgap email containing the verification link.

**Note**Ensure you are using the same device and browser where the login was attempted. Opening the link on a different device or browser will not work and will result in an error.

**3. Verify and Re-Login**

- Click the confirmation link in the email. You will be redirected to the Bitsgap login page.
- Enter your credentials again to access your account.
