How to Create and Set Up Gate.io API key

Connecting your Gate.io account to the Bitsgap platform allows you to trade across multiple cryptocurrency exchanges through a single interface, providing you access to advanced trading tools. This article will walk you through the steps to create, configure, and securely connect your Gate.io API key to the Bitsgap platform.

Steps to Create and Set Up the Gate.io API Key

1. Logging into Gate.io
To begin, log in to your Gate.io account. If you don't have one yet, you'll need to create a new account.

2. Creating Your API Key

Click on your profile icon in the top-right corner and navigate to the "Profile" page.

On the left-hand menu, select the "Sub-accounts and APIs" tab, then click "API Management".

Click on the [Create API Key] button to generate your new key.

Important Note: The key type should be API v4 Key. This key type is essential for integration with Bitsgap.

3. Matching API Key Permissions
Set up the necessary permissions for your API key. Make sure to apply the following:

IP permissions – to be configured later.
API Key Type – Set as API v4 Key.
Account Type – Choose Classic Account.
Permissions – Select Spot/Margin Trade and Read and Write.

After setting these permissions, you must agree to the terms and click [I Accept] to confirm.

4. Inserting a Security Code
For security purposes, you will need to complete the verification process:

Enter your 2FA code.

Fill in your Fund Password.
This step ensures that your API key creation is secure and authenticated.

5. Copying Your API Key and Secret Key
Once the API key is generated, make sure to copy both your API key and Secret key.
Keep these keys in a secure location, as they are needed to link your Gate.io account to the Bitsgap platform. Do not share these keys with anyone, as they provide access to your account.

6. Connecting API to Bitsgap
Now, log into your Bitsgap account and go to the My Exchanges page.

Click [Add new exchange] and select Gate.io from the list of available exchanges.

A pop-up window will appear where you can paste your API key and Secret key. Once entered, click [Connect].

7. Checking Your Connection Status
After successfully connecting your Gate.io API key to Bitsgap, check the status of the connection.
If everything is set up correctly, you will see Gate.io listed in your connected exchanges with a Connected status. You should also see your available trading balance.
