Manual Futures Trading

Considering the volatile nature of crypto trading, it is essential to have access to up-to-date and accurate information about open positions, orders, and trading history. This becomes even more important when it comes to futures trading, where the slightest slip-up can lead to significant losses.
Bitsgap has arranged the tabs on the futures <a href="https://app.bitsgap.com/trading" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Trading page</a> so that you get all the necessary information about your futures positions and easily adjust your strategy.
In this article, you will find a detailed description of all tabs and features available on the Bitsgap trading terminal.
<h2 id="h_01HMV2A17TG11XYV7XZ93H59QR">Positions tab</h2>
The “Positions" tab displays current open futures positions and detailed information about them. The data allows traders to analyze their current positions, assess risks, and make informed decisions about further actions.
Under the “Positions" tab, you can find the following:
<ol>
<li>
Symbol - the selected futures contract and the position leverage, direction (Long or Short) and type (bot or manually opened).</li>
<li>
Size - the position size considering the leverage.</li>
<li>
Entry price - the price at which the position was opened.</li>
<li>
Mark price - the estimated true value of the contract.</li>
<li>
PNL &amp; ROE - the current position performance in absolute and percentage values.</li>
<li>
Liquidation price - the estimated price at which your position can be liquidated by the exchange.</li>
<li>
Margin ratio - the ratio of margin collateral funds for maintaining the position to the available balance. The Margin ratio can be used to determine the liquidation status of the position. If the ratio reaches 100%, your position will be liquidated.</li>
<li>
ADL - the Auto-Deleveraging (ADL) indicator. ADL is a mechanism for the liquidation of counterparty positions during extreme market conditions. If the risks of liquidating your position are increasing, the ADL indicator will gradually light up.</li>
<li>
Margin - the margin allocated to the open position and the margin mode (Cross or Isolated).</li>

<h3 id="h_01HMV2B55CYPH1GPK9VCG76V20">Positions tab actions</h3>
The following actions can be carried out via the "Positions" tab:
<h4 id="h_01HMV2HC3T7X64H0HSK3PER0QA">1. Setting up or changing Take Profit (TP) and Stop Loss (SL) for a position.</h4>
TP and SL orders can help you exit the market and lock in some profit or limit potential loss. Under the “Positions” tab, you can add, change, or remove Take Profit and Stop Loss for the manually placed positions or the positions left by the closed bots.
Note The TP/SL editing option is unavailable for the positions of your active futures bots.

<h4 id="h_01HMV2H7VK3EZNBXT2KNQZ2ZGD">2.&nbsp;Closing a position.</h4>
There are two possible closing options - by placing a Market or Limit order. They are available for the manually placed positions or the positions left by the closed bots.
<ul>
<li>The [Market] option will close your position at the current market price immediately.</li>
<li>While the [Limit] option can be used to exit the market at a chosen price level.</li>

<h2 id="h_01HMV2EVPFGCB40PV039VJNX4Z">Open orders tab</h2>
The "Open orders" tab provides access to the list of all active orders. Here you can get information about the order type, its value, date and time of creation, as well as other important information. With this tab, traders can control the execution of their orders, as well as make necessary changes to those orders at any time.
The “Open orders" tab contains the following:

Symbol - the selected futures contract.</li>
<li>
Side - the side of your order (Buy or Sell).</li>
<li>
Type - the order type (bot or manually placed).</li>
<li>
Price - the price at which your order will be filled.</li>
<li>
Amount - the full order size amount in the base currency.</li>
<li>
Filled - the percentage of your order completion.</li>
<li>
Reduce Only - if the “Reduce Only” option is activated for the order (Yes or No). Reduce Only orders are used only to close a position or decrease its size.</li>
<li>
Margin mode - the selected margin type (Cross or Isolated).</li>
<li>
Date - the date and time when the order was placed.</li>

The following actions can be carried out via the “Open orders" tab:
<h4 id="h_01HMV2H2JYB2AWRK9ZVMCT2JH6">1. Viewing more details about bot orders.</h4>
When checking the “Open orders" tab, you can get the basic information about your futures bot orders. Clicking the [View more] button in the “Side” column will open the list of all bot orders with detailed information about them. With the [View less] button, you can minimize the list to the original view.

<h4 id="h_01HMV2GZ93KA2RHHVT2H402HK2">2. Cancelling an order.</h4>
Under the “Open orders” tab, you can close any manually placed orders. To do that, click on the [Cancel] button next to it and click [Yes].
Note There is no option to cancel bot orders manually. The only way to cancel the orders placed by your bots is to close the bot on the Bots page.

The “Order History” tab shows all completed and canceled orders along with comprehensive details about them.
Under the “Order History" tab, you can find the following columns:
<ol>
<li>
Date - the date and time when the order was completed or canceled.</li>
<li>
Symbol - the selected futures contract.</li>
<li>
Side - the side of your order (Buy or Sell).</li>
<li>
Type - the order type (Limit, Market, Stop-Limit, Stop Market, etc.).</li>
<li>
Price - the set price of your order. This is the price that you selected for your order to be filled at.</li>
<li>
Average price - the actual price at which your order was filled.</li>
<li>
Amount - the full order size amount in the base currency.</li>
<li>
Filled - the percentage of your order completion.</li>
<li>
Reduce Only - if the Reduce Only option was activated for the order (Yes or No). Reduce Only orders are used to close a position or decrease its size.</li>
<li>
Status - the order status indicating the actions taken in relation to your order: - Filled - the order was completed successfully. - Filled Partial - the order was completed partially. - Expired - the order was canceled by the exchange (liquidation, failed margin check, etc.). - Canceled - the order was canceled manually by you.</li>

<h2 id="h_01HMV2NY702F5EQR5A63VJ1P23">Trade history tab</h2>
The “Trade history” tab contains data about executed orders and additional information on the results of your positions, including the trading fees and realized PNL.
Under the “Trade history" tab, you can see the following:

Date - the date and time when the order was completed.</li>
<li>
Symbol - the selected futures contract.</li>
<li>
Side - the side of your order (Buy or Sell).</li>
<li>
Price - the price of your order.</li>
<li>
Amount - the order size in the base currency.</li>
<li>
Fee - the exchange trading fee charged for filling your order.</li>
<li>
Realized PNL - the result of filling the order. The “Realized PNL” metric is calculated based on the orders opening and closing the position. Positive PNL (green) means that the order generated some profit, and your position was closed with a positive result. While Negative PNL (red) means that filling the order resulted in a loss.</li>

The "Transactions history" tab displays the trading events that increase or reduce your futures balance, as there are various reasons why the balance could fluctuate.
Under the “Transactions history" tab, you can see the following:

Date - the date and time of the transaction.</li>
<li>
Type - the transaction type (Funding Fee, Realized PNL, Commission, Transfer).</li>
<li>
Amount - the amount of the completed transaction.</li>
<li>
Asset - the currency in which the transaction was processed.</li>

Using these tabs, you can analyze your trading performance and evaluate its impact on your balance to make informed trading decisions.

Getting started with Bitsgap Futures Trading Interface

This article will guide you in effectively handling potential risks that come with trading futures and setting Take Profit (TP) and Stop Loss (SL) for manual futures positions.

The Take Profit and Stop Loss orders are designed to automatically close your current position when a certain PNL level is reached. This ensures that you exit the market under favorable conditions, whether that be to lock in some profit or to limit potential loss.

<h2 id="h_01HEA2563TWQG0TB53FEMNMVRX">How to enable Take Profit or Stop Loss for your positions?</h2>
<ol>
<li>Open the <a href="https://app.bitsgap.com/trading" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Trading</a> page and switch to the Positions widget. Here, you can see your futures positions and set or change Take Profit or Stop Loss for them.</li>

Note You can enable Take Profit and Stop Loss via the trading terminal only for manually opened positions. It is not possible to modify TP/SL for positions that were opened by your active Futures bots. You can change their exit conditions directly in the bot’s settings. However, if you close your Futures bot and keep its position active (select the “Keep position” option), then you can enable and modify TP/SL for it via the Positions widget: <img src="https://bitsgap4907.zendesk.com/hc/article_attachments/12617086794780" alt="tp2.gif">
2. Click Add in the TP/SL&nbsp;column next to your position.

In the pop-up window, you can check the details of your current position and set up Take Profit or Stop Loss for it:

Here, you can see the futures contract ticker with the position leverage, your Entry and Mark prices.

Entry price is the price at which the futures contract was opened.</li>
<li>
Mark price shows the estimated true value of the contract.</li>

Below you will find two sections where you can set up Take Profit and Stop Loss and check their potential PNL. To configure TP or SL, you can choose:

<li>The price it will be calculated from (Last Price or Mark Price),</li>
<li>Setting an absolute or percentage TP/SL value.</li>

Last Price is the latest trade price of a futures contract. Last Price provides real-time information on recent trades. However, price manipulation and lack of liquidity can cause its abnormal fluctuations.

For a more stable price structure, you can use Mark Price.

Mark Price is the estimated true value of a contract. For example: on Binance Futures, the Mark Price of a contract is determined by several factors. This balances and smoothes out extreme price fluctuations during high volatility.

3. Once you’ve entered the Take Profit or Stop Loss details, double-check your settings and click [Confirm] to place the TP or SL order.

<h2 id="h_01HEA2C5JX2GC95PF9GH12S9RB">How to modify active Take Profit and Stop Loss order?</h2>
To edit an active TP or SL position, click on the pencil icon in the TP/SL&nbsp;column. A window will pop up allowing you to change the current TP/SL value, delete it, or set a new level:

After clicking on the [Confirm] button, the system will display corresponding notifications. The price for TP or SL will change in the Positions widget:

<h2 id="h_d25c74a8e2">What if I add Take Profit and Stop Loss on the exchange directly?</h2>

Depending on the method you use to activate Take Profit (TP) and Stop Loss (SL) on the exchange, our system will identify these orders differently. Let’s explore some examples of how you can set up Take Profit and Stop Loss for your position on Binance Futures.
<h3 id="h_01HMBW0JMXNHR824GF7CQ39WF0">Activating a TP/SL order through the “TP/SL for Position” option</h3>
If you set Take Profit or Stop Loss via the “TP/SL for position” option, these orders become directly linked to your specific position. This means that you cannot add an additional TP or SL through our platform for the same position.

However, you can&nbsp;edit or delete exchange-based TP/SL orders from Bitsgap. To do this, click on the&nbsp;pencil icon&nbsp;in the&nbsp;TP/SL column or adjust and close the order directly from the chart interface:

<h3 id="h_01HMBW2FQ6RJNQHEGYBJMWGWYZ">Placing single or multiple TP/SL orders through the TP/SL Column</h3>
Exchanges, including Binance Futures, offer an option to set up multiple Take Profit and Stop Loss orders for the partial closing of a position. This can be done through the TP/SL column:

When you create TP or SL orders using this method, our system recognizes them as individual, standalone orders. These orders are not directly related to your futures position. You can view and cancel orders under the “Open orders” tab. However, it is important to note that these orders cannot be modified through our platform.

If you set additional TP or SL orders via Bitsgap, the previously created exchange TP or SL orders will remain active. This means you will have both exchange-based partial or full TP or SL orders and Bitsgap TP or SL orders for your entire position:
