How to Create and Set Up Kucoin API key

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for connecting your Kucoin account to the Bitsgap platform via an API key. Kucoin offers two options for API setup: Kucoin Fast API and manual connection. Follow the steps below based on your preferred method.

Kucoin Fast API

The Kucoin Fast API uses OAuth 2.0 for a quick and secure connection to Bitsgap.

1. Go to Bitsgap > My Exchanges

• Log in to Bitsgap, navigate to the My Exchanges page, and click [Add new exchange].

2. Select Kucoin

• Choose Kucoin from the list and select the Fast Connect option. Click [Connect].

3. Authorize Permissions

• You will be redirected to Kucoin’s website.
• Agree to grant Bitsgap the required permissions.
• Confirm your authorization.

4. Connection Check

• After successful authorization, you will be redirected to Bitsgap.
• Kucoin will appear under My Exchanges with a Connected status, displaying your trading balance.
• When connecting your account, KuCoin Australia and KuCoin Europe will be labeled as “KuCoin AU” and “KuCoin EU” respectively, while the global version will appear simply as “KuCoin”.

Manual Connection

If you prefer manual configuration, follow these steps:

1. Log in to Kucoin

• Access your Kucoin account or create a new one.

2. Go to the API Management Page

• Navigate to your account settings and select API Management.

3. Set Up Security Settings

• If prompted, enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) and set up a trading password.

4. Create an API Key

• Click [Create API].

5. Label and Configure API Permissions

• Chose Link Third-party applications and select Bitsgap from the list.
• Name your API key for easy identification.
• Set a passphrase for the key (save this securely).
• Enable the following permissions:
  • General: On
  • Spot Trading: On
  • Optional - Futures Trading: On (if trading futures)
• All other permissions should remain disabled.
• Click [Next]

6. Complete Security Verification

• Enter your trading password, and 2FA code. Confirm to create the API key.

7. Save API Key and Secret Key

• Copy your API key and Secret key. These are shown once; store them securely.
• Click [Confirm]

8. Connect to Bitsgap

• Return to Bitsgap’s My Exchanges page.
• In the pop-up window select Kucoin and input your API key, secret key, and passphrase.
• Click [Connect].

9. Connection Check

• Verify Kucoin is listed under My Exchanges with a Connected status and available trading balance.
• When connecting your account, KuCoin Australia and KuCoin Europe will be labeled as “KuCoin AU” and “KuCoin EU” respectively, while the global version will appear simply as “KuCoin”.

Notes:

• Avoid enabling deposit and withdrawal permissions to protect your funds.
